Property developer Trinity Group Sdn Bhd has won a legal suit against Trinity Corporation Bhd, formerly known as Talam Corporation Bhd, for using the Trinity brand name in its recent rebranding exercise.
“We are happy to announce that the KL High Court has ruled in our favour. In the oral judgement delivered on Sept 26, judge Datuk Hanipah Farikullah has imposed a permanent injunction on Trinity Corp for the use of the Trinity name in property development,” said Dato’ Neoh Soo Keat, managing director on Tuesday.
The company has also trademarked the Trinity brand name and now have the reserved rights. It is currently awaiting the written judgement. Meanwhile, Trinity Corp has filed an application to appeal the ruling but the case has not been heard yet nor has a date been set.
“The recent Talam debt recovery exercise has caused a lot of confusion among our customers, business partners and the general public. This has greatly affected our business. We are now in the process of quantifying our losses on paper as Trinity Corp will have to pay us damages,” he added.
